5 Tips For Cleaning Your I Pad 2

By Danny Ashton

Fingerprints and dirt may make your iPad 2 screen look smudgy. Since your device has a very sensitive oleophobic screen, you cannot just wipe it with ordinary clothing or a plain handkerchief. There are important steps that you need to consider when you are going to clean your iPad 2. If cleaning is not done properly, the touch-sensitive screen of your device may lose its sensory ability and will become unusable in the long run. Here are some helpful and effective tips to clean your iPad 2without the risk of damaging it

1. Turn the iPad 2 off.

When doing your regular cleaning, now is not the time to leave your precious gadget actively running. When cleaning your iPad 2, it is best that you turn it off and disconnect it from any external source of power. This is much safer to clean the iPad 2 and it will also avoid any potential risk of electrical shock when cleaning the device. When the device is turned off, it will also be easier to see the smudges on the dark screen. If there are wires and cables connected to the device, you have to detach them as well. Better be safe than sorry.

2. Use a microfiber cloth.

An ordinary type of cloth will do no good, as it may even cause abrasions to your iPad 2. Instead, you ought to use a microfiber cloth, as it is soft and eco-friendly. It is made up of threads of polyester and polyamide which attract oil and watermaking the cloth very absorbent. It removes smudges and dirt from your iPad 2 screen very quickly and effectively. Just simply apply a small amount of liquid to make it damp. Rub the cloth gently in a circular manner. Make sure to clean the cloth regularly.

3. Use the right cleaning solution.

Pure alcohol, window cleaners, aerosol sprays and other abrasive chemicals can cause damage to the oleophobic coating of your iPad 2 screen. Make sure that when you are cleaning your iPad, you only use water or a mild cleaning solution.

4. Do not allow moisture to seep in.

Be very cautious not to let moisture get into the openings of your iPad such as through connectors, controls, speakers and microphones. Once moisture settles into your device, it will trigger the moisture sensor, giving the impression that your device is already damaged by moisture or water. You will have a hard time fixing it, or it may in fact be damaged permanently. Apple, as you know, does not provide warranty for products that are damaged from human error.

5. Make sure your iPad 2 is completely dry.

Do not turn your iPad 2 on after you have cleaned it with a damp cloth. To be sure, wipe it with a dry microfiber cloth. You may also allow it to rest along a flat surface for a certain period to allow more time to make it completely dry. When a gadget is dry, it does not attract as much particles as when it is damp or wet.
